2010 Census

In 2010, the U.S. Census will define who we are as a nation. By responding to the short questionnaire that all households will receive in February or March, you can help our community receive the fiscal and social benefits to which we are entitled.

Census information helps to shape the future of Tinley Park, and it defines our voice in Congress. Every year, more than $300 billion in federal funds is awarded to states and communities based on census data. The information guides decision-makers in important community planning efforts, helping to determine locations for schools, roads, hospitals, child care, senior citizen centers, and more. Businesses use data to locate supermarkets, shopping centers, new housing, and other facilities.

Responding to the questionnaire is safe. Every Census Bureau worker takes an oath for life to protect the confidentiality of census responses. Violation would result in a jail term of up to five years and/or a fine of up to $250,000. By law, the Census Bureau cannot share an individual's answers with anyone, including welfare and immigration agencies.

Be counted. Please take a few minutes to fill out and return the quick and easy questionnaire.
