The hit movie, and Oscar contender, 12 Years a Slave is based on the book by Solomon Northup, first published in 1853. This means that that it is available FOR FREE, because it is in the public domain. Whatever you do, you shouldn't buy an ebook copy of Twelve Years a Slave. You can even get an audiobook version for free too!

If you're new to YA Fiction (and let's face it, between The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, it's not just for teens anymore), then this is a really good place to start.

This fall is an exciting time in the world of Young Adult Literature. With the release of highly-anticipated sequels, installments, and conclusions to a number of popular series, months (and even years) of eager, impatient waiting will finally be rewarded across several fandoms.
