April is Donate Life Month

On Wednesday, April 30 we are hosting two special events spotlighting organ and tissue donation in Illinois.
Representatives from the Illinois Organ/Tissue Donor Program will be in our lobby from 3-6pm providing information and registration materials.
At 7pm, author of The Reluctant Donor and living organ donor Suzanne Ruff will share the heartwarming story of donating a kidney to her sister.

The Shark is Coming

Saturday April 26, 2014 from 9:00am to 11:00am

The Friends of the Tinley Park Public Library will sponsor a shredding event in the 80th Avenue Metra parking lot south of Timber Drive. A maximum of two standard-sized paper boxes filled with your sensitive papers (bank statements, bills) is allowed.

The Butler: a Story of the 20th Century

In recognition of Black History Month, we selected The Butler as February's Movies&Books pick. The film was released last summer and since then we have been excited to watch it and discuss it at our upcoming meeting. It's a really great lens through which to see the civil rights movement of the 1960's, and most of the 20th century's momentous events.
