Welcome!
Whether you're visiting for business or pleasure, the villages of Tinley Park and
Orland Hills have it all! On these pages you will find community resources and links to
related information about the two towns.
Tinley Park is a suburban community of
54,532
residents located in northeastern Illinois, 20 miles southwest of Chicago. Founded in
1892, the village has expanded dramatically over the years, evolving from a small farming
community of western European settlers to a thriving cosmopolitan center . . . and Tinley
Park continues to grow.
Orland Hills is a relatively new community
(incorporated in 1961) adjacent to the northwest corner of Tinley Park. The 6,799
residents of Orland Hills enjoy close proximity to two large shopping malls and other
retail establishments along La Grange Road (Rt 45).
Highlights:
 | Interstate I-80 runs through Tinley Park, with junctions at
Harlem Avenue (Route 43) and LaGrange Road (Route 45). This feature, together with
commuter train service through the center of town, makes the village a natural
transportation hub. |
 | The Holiday Inn Hotel & Convention
Center hosts trade and consumer shows, major conferences, social events
and banquets. It offers exhibitors spacious accommodations, free parking, and access to
five nearby hotels. |
 | Chicago's only major outdoor music theater, the
First Midwest Bank
Amphitheater (formerly known as the Tweeter Center) showcases dozens of internationally known
musical and comedy acts each year, and seats 27,500 concert-goers (the largest outdoor
pavilion in the United States).. |

 | The Autumn Fine Arts Festival is an annual event
held in the historic downtown district of Tinley Park. Highlighted by a parade on Oak
Park Avenue, this family-oriented festival includes an arts and crafts exhibition, live
music, child-friendly attractions, food offerings from local restaurants, and wine-tasting
opportunities! |
 | Several rapidly growing Business Parks offer companies the tax
advantages of Will County, while maintaining close proximity to the manufacturing base of
Cook County. (Tinley Park straddles both counties along the I-80 Development Corridor.) |
 | Recreational opportunities abound in the two villages. Forest
preserves on both the east and west sides include trails for hiking, riding and biking. An
"Aqua Park" includes a picnic grove and water park; and the "Odyssey"
is an 18-hole public golf course, designed by tournament pro Curtis Strange.
|
 | Tinley Park participates vigorously in the Sister Cities program, and recently welcomed
more than 80 residents of Büdingen, Germany for a two-week
stay. More than 500 residents of the two communities have been temporarily
"exchanged" since 1989. The village also has a new Sister City relationship with
Mallow, Ireland. |
