Join professional musician and historian Tim Wilsey as he discusses the origins of Mardi Gras, some of the original parades, and takes us on a trip to New Orleans to celebrate some of the greatest music ever created that inspired generations to come. Tim takes us on a journey how music played a significant roll in New Orleans life and a takes a look at some of the origins of Jelly Roll Morton to Louie Armstrong, Dr John, Fats Domino, Harry Connick Jr to Kermit Ruffins and much more...
This program includes lecture, live musical performance and some videos of the greats.
Speaker Bio: Tim Wilsey
Tim has been performing in The Chicagoland Area for over 20 years and as a professional drummer for over 30 years. His birthplace and upbringing entrenched him into the Boston and New York music scene, all the way into his early 20's until he moved to Chicago. Tim’s background studies of Big Band Swing, Be Bop Jazz and Chicago Soul/Blue’s Legends lends itself to his musical selection and band performance.
