Be a part of what we do at the Tinley Park Public Library!
Become a Teen Volunteer for the 2017-2018 school year and know that you made a difference!
Before filling out the application linked at the bottom of the page, please review all of the important information below regarding eligibility, procedure, and expectations for our volunteer program.
Students in grades 6-12 are eligible to volunteer at the library. Students must be residents of Tinley Park or Orland Hills, attend a school in either community, or be a member of an organization in our service area.
How it Works
You will receive an email at 7:00 pm on the twentieth of every month with a link to a website listing the times we need volunteers for the next month. If you do not receive our email on the twentieth, please check your spam/junk folder for the email. If it is not there, please call us at (708) 531-0160, x 2.
We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities. Please keep in mind that we receive more applications than we have opportunities. Volunteer opportunities are first come, first served. Because our needs determine the number of volunteer opportunities available, the library may not be able to meet all of the hours you need for any volunteer requirements.
Students in grades 6-12 may volunteer to earn service hours for a religious organization, for school requirements, or "just for fun." At this time, we are unable to accept court-ordered service hours.
What to Expect
Volunteers will be expected to complete tasks assigned in order to earn credit for their time. If you are late to assist with a program, we may substitute another volunteer task, such as cleaning books.
Missing a scheduled volunteer time without prior notification will result in removal from our active volunteer database. This means you will no longer be notifie when volunteer opportunities arise. In addition, if you miss your scheduled volunteer time, we will inform the organization sponsoring your volunteer work.
