Conversion Station Policy

Purpose

The Tinley Park Public Library Conversion Station allows patrons to digitize physical media such as photos, home movies, and reel-to-reel film.

Eligibility

A Tinley Park Public Library card is required to reserve the Conversion Station. Up to two (2) users can work at the Conversion Station at one time, one of whom must have a Tinley Park Public Library card in good standing, with fines not exceeding $10.00 and account information up to date. Staff will retain a user’s Tinley Park Public Library card while the Conversion Station is in use. If the Tinley Park Public Library card used to reserve the Conversion Station is not available, the user’s current (unexpired) photo ID (state or school-issued) will be retained by Library staff while the Conversion Station is in use.

All users must be at least thirteen (13) years old, and permission must be granted beforehand by a parent or legal guardian for those 13–17 years old.

User Responsibility

The user whose Library card is retained by Library staff will be responsible for any damages, missing items, misuse of equipment, breach of policy, or misconduct.

It is the user’s responsibility to save their work on an external memory source, such as a cloud storage website, flash drive, etc. Files saved to the Conversion Station computer will be erased upon restart. The Library is not responsible for lost files.

Rules and Procedures

  • No food or uncovered drinks are permitted while using the Conversion Station.
