Learning about our nation’s history helps preserve the past, clarify our identities and self-worth, and create empathy for the struggles of those who came before us. Linda Gorham brings to life the stories of men and women whose actions and experiences made a positive impact on our country: Rosa Parks, Ruby Bridges, The Little Rock Nine, the young Barack Obama, and the young Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Speaker Bio: Linda Gorham, Storyteller
For the past 30 years Linda Gorham has engaged audiences internationally with poignant and humorous family stories; interactive folktales; notably twisted fairy tales; and riveting, well-researched historical stories. Each performance is infused with Linda’s unconventional humor and her signature ‘sophisticated attitude’.
Linda has been added to the Wall of Storytelling Faces and Voices at the International Storytelling Center in Jonesborough, Tennessee. Linda was awarded the Distinguished National Service Award by the National Storytelling Network and the Linda Jenkins Brown Nia Award for Service from the National Association of Black Storytellers.
Linda has performed at schools, libraries and storytelling festivals throughout the United States In addition, Linda has performed internationally in Greece, South Africa and Egypt. She was the co-festival director of both the 2014 National Black Storytelling Festival and Conference and the 2003 National Storytelling Conference.
