Gardening Myths and Misinformation: Barriers to Good Gardening
There have always been a lot of garden myths and old wives’ tales being shared over the back fence. Today’s ‘back fence’ is the internet and it reaches countless gardeners. Some of the myths are small, harmless pieces of misinformation, but others can be very harmful to plants and keep us from attaining high quality gardens. This program will dispel some of the common myths and set the record straight.

Speaker Bio: Sharon Yiesla has been a horticulturist since 1983. Sharon runs her own business, “Sharon Yiesla, Horticultural Services”, through which she delivers gardening presentations. She earned a BS in horticulture from Purdue University and an MS in horticulture from University of Illinois. Her past accomplishments include teaching at Illinois State University, working as a Horticulture Specialist for University Extension in Missouri, working as a Horticulture Educator with University of Illinois Extension in Lake County and teaching classes at the Chicago Botanic Garden.
