Speaker: Larry Spivack, Illinois Labor History Society President

Speaker Bio: Larry Spivack worked in the labor movement for nearly 40 years before he retired in 2017 as Regional Director for AFSCME Council 31 in Illinois. His work for AFSCME since 1984 included stints as an organizer, staff representative, and collective bargaining supervisor. He served as Vice-President of his local AFSCME union before joining the staff. During the time that he served as a local union officer he was an Educator teaching High School Students at the Illinois State Psychiatric Institute residential program for adolescents. Larry joined the Board of the ILHS in the late 1990s and has served as President since 2006. He loves labor history so much, that the most fun he has is being part of the Illinois Labor History Society. Larry says that giving tours to the many labor history sites in Illinois inspires him to keep on learning and teaching labor history.
