Youth Services Manager – Full Time
The Tinley Park Public Library is seeking an energetic, positive, and service-oriented manager to lead our Youth Services and Young Adult staff. We are looking for a proactive person who can contribute fresh ideas and who is articulate with the written and spoken word. Applicants should be able to demonstrate accomplishments and a strong interest in library work related to youth services, as well as exceptional supervisory, customer service, and leadership skills.
Primary duties include scheduling, budgeting, writing performance evaluations, and communicating effectively with library administration, Youth Services and Young Adult staff, and the library’s management team. The Tinley Park Public Library serves both the communities of Tinley Park and Orland Hills, with a combined population of 63,852 residents.
This full-time position involves working the following hours:
- 40 hour work week
- 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with one evening shift of 12:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- One weekend rotation every four weeks. Saturday shifts are 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sunday shifts are 11:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Flexibility of working hours may be required
A Master’s Degree in Library Science is required. An ALA-accredited degree is preferred. Minimum of three years library experience in a youth services department; minimum three years supervisory experience required; experience in working with children and young adults (ages 0-18) required.
