Adult Reference Librarian — Part Time
- Job Description:
The Tinley Park Public library is seeking an energetic, positive, and service-oriented librarian to join our Adult Services team. We’re looking for a proactive person who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adapts easily to change, and is comfortable with technology.
Primary duties include providing friendly, professional reference services, readers’ advisory, and technology assistance. Additionally, this position may teach technology classes and lead adult book discussions. The Tinley Park Public Library serves both the communities of Tinley Park and Orland Hills, with a combined population of 63,852 residents.
- Job Hours:
This part-time position involves working the following hours:
- Monday & Tuesday 9 am–5 pm
- Weekend rotation, 1 Saturday (Groups 2) and 2 Sundays (Group 2 & 4). Saturday shifts are 9 am–5 pm and Sunday shifts are 11:45 am–5 pm
An ALA-accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science, preferably in a public library setting. An ability to collaborate and to deal courteously and diplomatically with patrons and colleagues and to remain calm in difficult situations. Applicants should be proficient in using and assisting patrons with a variety of current technologies such as web and database searching, social media, and mobile devices. Must be patient and able to exercise good judgment.
- $23.84 per hour
